last time I was there I rode with my instructors son. He ran a 1:47.9 at an event that next weekend there. On street tires! Talk about scared! Him not lifting at turn three or the kink scared the crap out of me.

I can't wait to go back and conquer the kink. 110-115 with no lift or bust this time

Is 'the kink' 9 or 10 or something else?

the kink is 10...

110 - 115 is a bit more than the CRX can muster... ... entry at 100 tire scrub ... exit ~ 97... 110 before brakes at 11...

if you're going to chicken out and lift, you lift before entry not in the middle

I need to post video of going through the kink with 6 inches running water. In the ITS Mazda it is fifth gear, flat foot until we go to the brakes for 11. Secret to the kink is not getting chicken and turning in too soon. You want to have the car turned as much as possible before the bump gets you loose. As you feel the right side lift you do a gentle left countersteer and it becomes a non event. 1:47.2 is my best in the RX so far but that was trainwreck.

Switch to some Motul today (Should have done super blue so I could see what the hell I was doing!) Made my reservation at the good ol Executive inn, Stiffened up the Konis on the rear, reinstalled the camera mount, checked over the car, thread jacked the VIR thread. Ready to go!

Ready Walter?!

Got this email from TrackDaze about the August event this year:

Lastly, we have made a recent change to our August VIR event. Numerous members have asked about running the GRAND course. This is the same 4.2 mile course that was run in a recent Car & Driver article. We will now run the FULL Course on Thursday, August 26th and then run the GRAND Course on Friday, August 27th. For more information and to register for this event you can follow this link: https://www.trackdaze.com/index.php?opt ... ttendees=1

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to respond to this email or email us at info@trackdaze.com

We look forward to seeing everyone out at an event this year.

Regards,
TrackDaze Staff

This is the Lightning Lap that Car & Driver has been posting to compare performance cars the last few editions. Should be fun.
